The challenge
The Pulse app was envisioned as a transformative digital health and wellness platform “at your fingertips,” designed specifically for users across Asia and Africa. Back in 2018, the market was not yet saturated with this type of application, especially those offered by large corporations like Prudential.

Discovery & product strategy
Through a series of structured design thinking workshops, key stakeholders shared insights that were distilled into clear product features. User needs and expectations were translated into practical tools designed to deliver personalized, 24/7 health support - such as a symptom checker, digital health assessment (“Healthcheck”), and a locator for nearby clinics and hospitals.
Product design
In shaping the product design, the team translated the strategic vision into an intuitive, user-centric mobile experience. User-centric here means putting people of different ages, backgrounds, and levels of digital literacy at the center - making complex health data easy to understand, visually engaging, and actionable.
The design ensured that core services: symptom checking, health assessments, teleconsultations, and emergency locators, were always accessible and simple to navigate, supported by a consistent and approachable visual language across devices.
The app’s inclusive and scalable framework also enabled future enhancements such as stress-level tracking through facial scans (“My Pulse Daily”), vital sign monitoring, and curated wellness content. Finally, special attention was given to usability across diverse linguistic and regional contexts, ensuring relevance and accessibility for users in different markets.
